“Alexis”

May 10, 2017 by Lisa Lessner

“Alexis” was physically assaulted on several occasions by the violent, drug-addicted father of her disabled son. On one occasion, he threw a lamp at her head and when Alexis ran to her son’s bedroom and locked the door, he kicked in the door, injuring the boy. Alexis filed criminal charges and filed for an emergency Protection from Abuse (PFA) order. The abuser harassed her on Facebook and tried to intimidate her and her son. The legal services attorney represented Alexis at the PFA hearing and at the subsequent custody trial where she was granted full custody of her son. She has since moved to a safe, undisclosed location, and her abuser is facing criminal charges.
