CCJ mourns the death of Justice Randy J. Holland. Justice Holland was a role model in Delaware, around the country, and even the world. He embodied the best qualities of what it means to be a lawyer and a judge—integrity, intellectual rigor, and fairness. Justice Holland was also a heroic champion for CCJ. Upon his retirement from the Bench in 2017 he permitted money to be raised in his honor to support the Combined Campaign for Justice agencies (CLASI, DVLS, and LSCD). In 2018 the Randy J. Holland Family Law Endowment was created in his honor to fund a full-time fellowship position to serve the legal needs of low-income families in perpetuity. Justice Holland’s legacy will live on forever as we help survivors of domestic violence navigate their family law, public benefits, and housing needs. Justice Holland’s support of our work meant so much to us because it showed us how much he valued the work we do, but perhaps even more importantly, because it shows how much he valued our clients.
