Gayle recently joined Legal Services Corporation of Delaware as a staff attorney in the Wilmington office. After a 25-year career as the Chief Staff Attorney for the Delaware Supreme Court (which she loved), she decided to take an early retirement in December 2018 in order to do something completely different with her legal training.
“At the time, I didn’t know exactly where my decision would lead, but I knew that I wanted to focus on issues of social justice and to align my career goals more closely with my personal values. When a position opened at LSCD, I jumped at the opportunity.
It is gratifying to work for an organization whose mission is to help protect the stability and dignity of low-income families in Delaware and to be an advocate for those most in need of legal assistance. My LSCD colleagues are committed to standing with our clients through really difficult issues, which can threaten their housing, their employment, and their financial independence. Although our clients may not “win” every case, having legal representation leads to better outcomes for them. I wish our office had the resources to help every person in need who walks through our door.”
